Description
Legends Grain Filler is a specialist cue shaft treatment developed to restore and enhance the natural grain of ash cue shafts. Designed for players who care about feel, appearance, and longevity, it fills the open grain of the wood while bringing out the shaft’s natural arrows and grain lines without altering playability.
This product is ideal for refreshing tired shafts, evening out the surface, and preparing a cue for finishing or waxing. When applied correctly, Legends Grain Filler leaves the shaft smooth, clean, and visually sharp, while maintaining the natural characteristics that ash cue players value.
Purpose and Performance
Ash cue shafts naturally develop open grain over time due to play, moisture, and handling. Legends Grain Filler works by settling into the grain structure, helping to stabilise the surface and restore a consistent finish. It improves the look of the shaft while supporting a smoother feel through the bridge hand.
This treatment is particularly useful during cue maintenance, restorations, or when preparing a shaft before applying a finishing wax. It is suitable for snooker and English pool cues with ash shafts and is best used as part of a proper cue care routine.
Application and Use
For best results, the shaft should be free of lacquer or finishing products before application. The grain should be lightly opened using a fine brass bristle brush to allow the filler to settle correctly. A small amount of Legends Grain Filler is then worked into the shaft using a soft cotton cloth, ensuring the grain is fully filled.
After approximately 30 seconds, excess filler should be removed with a clean cloth. The process can be repeated several times if a darker or more pronounced finish is desired. Once complete, a very light pass with super-fine 0000 grade wire wool helps clean the surface and prepares the shaft for your preferred finishing product.
Finish and Compatibility
Legends Grain Filler is designed to work alongside traditional cue finishing products and is commonly paired with cue wax for a smooth, professional final result. It does not leave a sticky residue and will not affect the natural response of the shaft when applied correctly.
Each tin contains approximately 20–30ml, providing multiple applications depending on shaft condition and usage.
Safety and Handling
Protective gloves are recommended during application to minimise skin contact. If contact occurs, clean immediately using a suitable solvent-based or specialist cleaner. Water should not be used. If irritation develops, seek medical advice.
